Why is my website is still just a directory listing?
Why is my website is still just a directory listing?
Solution
Certain filenames are selected by the Web server as the main page for a directory. If none of these files are found, a listing of the directory will be displayed instead. Please ensure that one of the files in your site is named appropriately:
index.html
index.shtml
index.cgi
index.php
index.php3
index.phtml
index.htm
home.html
welcome.html
In FrontPage this means that the homepage file should be located directly under the
http://www.yourdomain.com
root folder.
When using FTP the root directory should appear as /yourusername.
Do not keep your homepage located in a folder within your directory. The homepage file must remain outside of all your folders.
Please see our '.htaccess' section if you have made alterations to the .htaccess file that include changing the default page.
